Little Griot Storytellers (1st-2nd Grade)

CLASSES WILL BE HELD IN-PERSON AT KARAMU HOUSE

Karamu Arts Griots teaches our littles the power and joy of storytelling. A Griot is a member of a class of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa. Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to explore folktales and add influences of their own stories in this class. 

Acting, dance and visual art is incorporated to bring stories of Anansi the Spider to life.

Mandatory Virtual Orientation Saturday Sept. 11th 11:00a-12:30p

Dates: Saturdays September 18th-December 11th (No Class November 27th) 

Time: 9:00a-9:45a | 45 min

Capacity: 15

Required Materials: Materials will be provided

Tuition and Fees: $25 annual Registration Fee + $120 Tuition

Covid Protocol: Masks are required in addition to social distancing.

Culmination: Family recital hosted on final day of class in the Fall. In Spring 2022 students will participate in mainstage production integrating all Karamu Arts Academy students.
