Karamu Arts Level II Artists: Sankfoa Drama
with Andrew Pope
Karamu Sankofa Acting: an intensive theatre education course training youth to perform on a professional level. Drawing historical and social connections to the past and present is the building blocks of believable characters and well-rounded performance. Students explore a rotating curriculum featuring classical plays, contemporary plays, musicals and devised theatre while learning the foundation of acting schools of thought from an Afrocentric lens.
This class meets twice a week and requires out of class reading and studying in preparation of every class.
Level I is for students with little to no previous theatre experience. Level II is for students who have at least 3 years experience.
